E-Scoop Lenses

What Are E-Scoop Lenses?

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of sight loss in the United Kingdom. Affecting the central vision, it makes seeing fine details such as reading very difficult or almost impossible. Through the development of the E-Scoop lens, there is hope for sufferers of AMD whose sight has deteriorated through this condition (or other macular diseases).

The new lenses look like no other spectacle lens. The unique curve, thickness, prism, colour and coating could bring improvement to your vision.

How Does E-Scoop Work?

Geographic Atrophy

(GA), which causes permanent damage to the macula;

A rarer but fast-progressing form leading to severe vision loss due to abnormal blood vessels growing behind the retina

A prism built into the lens gently shifts the image away from the damaged area caused by macular degeneration and directs it to a healthier part of the macula or retina.

The yellow lens color improves contrast and helps reduce sensitivity to daylight and sunlight, making outdoor and bright environments more comfortable.
